Nature has given Zimbabwe one of the finest climates in the world which is warm without being oppressive and with a daily average sunshine ranging from four to ten hours all year round. Generally the days are bright and sunny, while the nights are cool and clear. November to April are summer months (rainy season) while winter is from May to July. Winter is generally dry.

Passport Applications

Passport Applications Requirements

Originals and uncertified photocopies of the following documents:

  1. Long Birth Certificate;
  2. Zimbabwean I.D. for all applicants above 16 years (Paper, Plastic or Metal) NB. IDs for married women with marriage certificates should bear the spouses' surname;
  3. Current / expired passport;
  4. Marriage certificate / divorce order where applicable;
  5. Two (2) colour passport photos (size 3.5cm x 4.5cm) on strictly white back ground (please wear dark/bright colours. Cream and white colours are not acceptable);
  6. Police Affidavit for all Lost or Stolen passports;
  7. Citizenship certificate (for citizens by registration / if one or both parents are Zimbabwean citizens by descent or if the applicant was born outside Zimbabwe)
  8. For minors below the age of 18, the following are also required; the father/mother or legal guardian has to be present to sign Section 5 of the application form. The parent/legal guardian's Passport & ID are required.

Fees are as follows:

  • Passport form: R300.00 payable in cash at the Consulate
  • Passport processing fees are paid at the Passport Office in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwean Citizens living abroad may apply for an urgent passport (24hrs) at a fee of US$318 if they are able to pay the emergence passport processing fee
N.B.: Applicants submit their passport applications forms to any of the following offices;
  1. Harare
  2. Bulawayo
  3. Gwanda
  4. Gweru
  5. Chitungwiza
Please note that the consulate does not submit passport application forms on behalf of applicants.

Temporary Travel Document

Temporary Travel Document Requirements

  1. Zimbabwe National Identity Card (ID) and / or birth certificate.
  2. Expired passport or affidavit in cases of lost or stolen passport.
  3. One passport size photo.
  4. ETD/TTD costs R500.00

N.B.: An ETD/TTD can only be used to travel back to Zimbabwe. One cannot enter South Africa using an ETD or TTD.

REQUIREMENTS FOR REGISTRATION OF CHILDREN BORN OUTSIDE ZIMBABWE:

Originals and photocopies of the following documents:
  1. Child's South African birth certificate (if applicable);
  2. Birth record & Health Card;
  3. Mother's Zimbabwean I.D, Birth Certificate and passport;
  4. Father's Zimbabwean I.D, Birth Certificate and passport;
  5. Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
  6. Fees R100.00 payable in cash at the Consulate

N.B.: Please note that the forms obtained from the Consulate should be submitted to the Registrar of Births and Deaths in Harare at Makombe Building. A payment of US$50.00 is payable upon submission of the forms in Harare.

List of required documents for Repatriation of Human remains to Zimbabwe

  1. Death Certificate (Abridged Death Certificate)
  2. Copy of Deceased's Passport or Birth certificate or Zimbabwean I.D
  3. Copy of Deceased relative's Passport or Birth Certificate or Zimbabwean I.D and contact details
  4. Burial Order
  5. Embalming Certificate
  6. Non-Infectious disease Certificate
  7. Notice of Death/Still Birth - (DHA-1663A)
  8. Notice of Death/Still Birth - (DHA-1663B)
  9. Final burial place in Zimbabwe

N.B.: NO BODY SHALL BE REPATRIATED TO ZIMBABWE WITHOUT CLEARANCE FROM THE CONSULATE

Deceased of an undocumented person
In cases where the deceased does not have Zimbabwean document/s, the undertakers should approach the Consulate with the following additional documents:
  1. Zimbabwean national identity card and / or Zimbabwean birth certificate of the informant;
  2. Affidavit written by the next of kin stating that the person is indeed a Zimbabwean national and stating the nature of the relationship.
  3. The Consulate will seek the necessary clearances from Harare.

CONFIRMATION OF VALIDITY OF ZIMBABWEAN DRIVERS LICENSES

  1. Applicant should first get a confirmation letter of their Licence from CVR in Zimbabwe.
  2. Bring the confirmation letter and 2x Passport photos to the Consulate.
  3. Cost at the Consulate - R250.00

Appointments

Use our Appointment System

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and requirements for social distancing, we require everyone who visit us to have an appointment.

  • All clients will be served strictly by appointment between 0930 and 1430 hours on Monday to Thursday; and 0930 to 1200 hours on Friday.
  • A maximum of (100) clients will be assisted per day at this point. The selection criteria would be based on first come- first serve basis.
  • The confirmation of appointment should be presented at the security checkpoint in order to be granted passage into the premises. Clients who show up at the Consulate without a confirmation of appointment will not be allowed into the premises.
  • Time slots are neither interchangeable nor transferable. (Clients are therefore, advised to strictly adhere to the allotted time slots.)
  • If there are more than one applicants, please fill in their details under the dependants' option.
  • Please bring a printout of confirmation of your appointment.
